Onn Wah Engineering Works humble beginnings can be traced back to way before 1961, when our founder, Mr Lam Kok Luen, was only 13 years old. Unlike most of the boys his age, Mr Lam started work as an apprentice in a machine shop called Soon Onn Engineering Works.

In 1947 and when he was 17, he bought his own lathe machine and started his own business with just $500 as capital. In 1961, he incorporated his company and named in Onn Wah – ‘Onn’ represented the first company he worked in and ‘Wah’ was named after his first son, Keng Wah.

Located at 30 Desker Road, the company soon grew from strength to strength, building its manpower base and added more machines. In 1975, we moved to a bigger facility, located at 3 Senang Crescent before we expanded to a four-storey facility at 47 Kaki Bukit View, Techpark II in 1999 and to our current facility in 2006.
